Agents of change awards honor leaders advancing the United Nations sustainable development goals

The 2024 Agents of Change Awards Luncheon was hosted by the Global Partnerships Forum and the Permanent Mission of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations. The event, which took place in the West Terrace Room at the United Nations, brought together global changemakers working toward a more sustainable and equitable future.
At the Luncheon, the Global Partnerships Forum honored extraordinary leaders who are making a significant impact on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the Agent of Change Award. The awards were presented by Amir and Tas Dossal and H.E. Mrs. Isabelle Picco.
Honorees:
- Laura Turner Seydel, Director of the Turner Foundation and Chair Emeritus of the Captain Planet Foundation, received the Agent of Change Award for her unwavering dedication to environmental conservation and regenerative agriculture.
- Kerry Kennedy, prominent human rights lawyer and author was celebrated for her relentless pursuit of human rights and justice, and for amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and defending the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
- Paul Polman, co-author of Net Positive and global business leader, was honored for his leadership in transforming business to support the SDGs and drive climate action.
- Deemah AlYahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, was awarded for her visionary leadership in advancing digital innovation and transformation across underserved communities. A true global champion of digital inclusion.
- H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis was recognized for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to multilateralism, peace, security, and sustainable development as President of the 78th Session of the General Assembly.
- Dr. Aziza T. Shad, Ellen W.P. Wasserman Chair of Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital at Sinai, was honored for her lifelong commitment to improving the lives of children battling cancer.
- Noëlla Coursaris Musunka, founder of Malaika, was celebrated for her unwavering commitment to empowering girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo through education.
Special Recognition:
- Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, was recognized for her visionary leadership and tireless commitment to bridging the digital divide, empowering the unconnected and serve as a voice for the voiceless.
Lifetime Achievement Award:
- Ted Turner, founder of CNN and Chair of the UN Foundation Board, was honored for his profound contributions to humanity and steadfast support of the UN’s mission for global peace and sustainability.
