For the second consecutive year, the International Day of Sport, proclaimed in 2013 by a UN resolution negotiated by Monaco, was celebrated through a digital campaign on social media. Many messages were posted, including 12 tweets in French and English on the account of the Permanent Mission of Monaco. The UN Secretary-General, H.E Mr. António Guterres and the WHO Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyessus, have also posted messages on their personal accounts, in addition to those of the UN, the IOC, the WHO and a large number of partners (sports organizations, NGOs, other Permanent Missions, athletes, individuals).

The messages put forward by this campaign relate to the role of sport in the post-pandemic recovery, how it encourages team spirit, solidarity and resilience, as well as fair and equitable access to vaccines so that we can build back better and resume the sports activities we miss so much.

As part of this campaign, the Permanent Mission of Monaco to the UN was invited to test an advanced version of the new application developed by the company Shibuya Productions, based in Monaco: ActiVSeven Heptathlon, a heptathlon game for smartphones and tablets. Coupled with a connected device, also invented in Monaco, this application allows the user to perform real physical exercises focused on rhythm, force and precision, in a fun way.

This year, the Mission of Monaco once again played an important part in the organization of this celebration and the preparation of its campaign, in partnership with the UN Departments of Global Communications, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the Office of Partnerships and the 'World Health Organization. This format has helped reach a very wide public, well beyond the usual audience brought together by in-person events.
