The month of March is traditionally devoted to women at the United Nations, and features the annual session of the Commission on the Status of Women. During this year’s session, Monaco’s Permanent Representation hosted a presentation by Mr Marc Rosen, the designer behind some iconic perfume bottles. H.E. Ms Isabelle Picco, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and the UN Delegations Welcome Committee learned about the work that goes into designing perfume bottles, the best known of which are part of our collective memory.

Marc Rosen has won seven FIFI awards, the perfume industry equivalent of the Oscars, and takes part in the Luxe Pack Monaco exhibition of luxury packaging in the Principality every year. During his presentation, he talked with pleasure about the time he met Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco.

Innovation, technique and creativity are the watchwords when it comes to designing perfume bottles and their packaging. Marc Rosen has described his craft in the first book to be devoted to this art, Glamour Icons: Perfume Bottle Design, which was published in 2011.
