On 4 September, H.E. Mr. Jaime HERMIDA CASTILLO and H.E. Ms. Isabelle PICCO, Permanent Representatives to the United Nations, signed joint communiqués committing the two States to strengthen their bonds of friendship and cooperation.

One of the largest States in Central America, Nicaragua is an original member of the United Nations, having joined at its creation in 1945.

Both strongly involved in environmental issues and the fight against climate change, Monaco and Nicaragua share common concerns about the future of our planet and set a goal to develop renewable energy in order to preserve it.

Indeed, 95% of Nicaragua's territory is now electrified thanks to partnerships between the Government and the private sector. More than 55% of the country's power relies on solar energy and wind turbines.
