The President of the 73rd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mrs. Maria Fernanda ESPINOSA GARCES, opened the "Planet or Plastic" exhibition on June 4th at the United Nations, as part of her campaign against plastic pollution.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Principality of Monaco sponsored the presentation by National Geographic of stunning photos telling "the story of plastic" with an in-depth look at the devastating impact of its pollution on the oceans. By leveraging research, technology and education, the goal is to inspire change in behavior and consumption.

It should also be noted that the President of the General Assembly obtained, as part of her "UNPlasticize" campaign, the complete ban of single-use plastics at United Nations Headquarters in New York. Such a success is particularly important in the context of the celebration of World Environment Day on June 5th and World Oceans Day on June 8th.
