UN Monaco Confirms its Position on Combating Violence Against Women

H.E. Ms. Isabelle Picco, Ambassador, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, took part in the United Nations Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs Committee, held in New York on 6 October.  During the debate on the advancement of women, she reiterated Monaco's commitment to eliminating of all forms of violence against women.  H.E. Ms. Picco outlined the measures taken at the national and international levels by the Prince's Government to help women who are victims of violence.

The Permanent Representative of the Principality also recalled the signing, last September, of the UN Secretary General's Pact to eliminate sexual exploitation and sexual abuse committed during United Nations operations.  Monaco has co-sponsored all Security Council resolutions on this issue since 2008.

Finally, H.E. Isabelle Picco spoke of the commitment of H.R.H. Princess Caroline of Hanover, President of AMADE MONDIALE, to building an institute that is exclusively dedicated to the medical treatment of girls, adolescents and women who are victims of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
